Yosemite National Park is one of the most beautiful places in America. From the moment you arrive in the park, you will be surrounded by abundant natural beauty.
You can spend days exploring all of the different areas of Yosemite, and the park offers a wide variety of activities for families. However, one activity that you might not typically associate with Yosemite in golf.
The 18 hole golf course at Yosemite National Park opened in 1918. The nine hole course can be repeated from different tee positions to form a fun and challenging 18 hole course. Is this new to you? Catch up here
The weather in Yosemite is unpredictable, but visitors are normally able to enjoy a round of golf from spring through fall. The unique golf course is one of the few courses in the United States that is organic. This means that no pesticides are used to maintain the greens, and the greens are watered using reclaimed water.
When you schedule a round of golf at Yosemite, do not forget to bring your camera! Golfing is always enjoyable, but it is even more so when you are surrounded by abundant natural beauty. There is no better way to enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise.

Yosemite is a wonderful national park. If there is a problem with Yosemite it is that too many people want to visit. That is exactly the reason the best way to see the park is by horseback or by riding a mule.

From the beautiful Yosemite Valley you can take either a half or full day horseback riding adventure. For children and new riders, the ride to Mirror Lake and return is great and only takes two hours. More experienced riders can take a half day ride on more challenging and winding trails that lets you experience some magnificent water falls, looking from Clarke’s Point. The full day trip, which is a bit physically challenging for most people, covers a distance of nearly 19 miles and gives riders the opportunity to see parts of the part that many visitors never get to see.

If you go to the southern end of Yosemite Park, at Wawona, you can take shorter horseback rides or ride a mule. The mule trips are a great way to see some giant Sequoia trees in an area called the Mariposa Grove. Wawona is outside the area of Yosemite Park so no park pass will be required.

Yosemite National Park is something that most certainly should go on any good bucket list. However, when it comes to list, you should never forget the home security checklist – especially if you are going to be away for any extended period of time. It’s a list that’s often neglected and some people who go to sites like www.quortek.com and get security systems think they’ll just flip a switch and there’s nothing to worry about. There is, in fact, more that can be done to maximize the security and we’ll go through a few of those items.

- Don’t let the mail and the newspaper pile up. Nothing says “Hey, we’re not home so make yourselves AT HOME” like these telltale signs of absence. Either contact the mail carrier or, better still, have your neighbors gather up your things. They might even be able to look in on the home.

- Leave no spare keys hidden on the property and no notes on the door. Maybe you have the neighbor kid coming over to water your plants and you wanted to leave them a key and a note. That’s fine, but leave these things in person – not outside for the criminals to find.

Feeling like you just need to get away from it all? There are not many destinations more serene and peaceful than Yosemite National Park. While you are there why not take up some rock climbing? This beautiful countryside has been featured in Star Trek as Captain Kirk ascended El Capitan. If you are not feeling quite so energetic, there are climbing lessons and guided climbs for beginners to experts.

The great thing is that you will not have any worries while out and about. The guides are usually AMGA certified and also trained for wilderness emergency medical services. Rock climbing is a great activity for mental and physical health that can be enjoyed by nearly any age. You can go by yourself or with a group of friends. No matter which, all are sure to have a great time and get a new outlook on adventure. Come check it out!

If some of your fellow travelers are not up for the climb, no need to be concerned. There is plenty in Yosemite for everyone to do. If you are not sure where to go, there are many helpful assistants at the Visitor’s Center that can help direct you to activities.

Merced Groves – Particularly if you’ve got kids along for the journey, you can’t miss the giant sequoias. They get snowed in pretty early so hit them up first and pack a lunch. Leave early, too, as the traffic can get pretty bad in this section.
Tioga Road – If you’re looking for a scenic road, you can’t do any better than Tioga. It again can get crowded but it’s worth the hasslekeep an eye out for wildlife and some of the more breathtaking views in all of the park.
Rafting – If your family’s up for it, book a rafting trip down the Yosemite Valley. It’s a rush like nothing you’ve experienced and it will bond you as a family – it’s a great way to cap off a long trip to the park but don’t forget to pack for it! You’ll need water shoes!

When it comes to national parks, Yosemite is definitely one special place that displays North America at its best. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of central-eastern California. The Park is known for its landmark natural granite monuments like Half Dome and El Capitan as well as its Bridal Veil Falls, other falls, and Giant Sequoia Tree Forests. Yosemite National Park offers guided “bike to hike” tours that provide adventure and fun for individuals, families and groups.

These guided tours are for small groups and guests can customize the tours to include the special sites they especially want to see. The friendly guide will provide historical and natural information about the park and the particular areas in view. The event lasts about two and one half hours total depending on the group and sites included.

People can either bring their own bike or rent one at the park and meet at the time appointed for the tour. The tour begins by riding the bikes to the trailhead or particular park location chosen. The guide will then lead the way on short hikes. Everyone coming on the tour should know how to ride a bicycle.

Planning a visit to beautiful Yosemite National Park in central California will offer the individual many options. While there are a number of hotels/motels in and around the park, one will get the most out of their visit staying in one of their many campgrounds. Yosemite National Park actually has a total of 13 campgrounds available for your stay.

Like with any other type of vacation, remember to book a site in the campground long before embarking on the trip. Out of the 13 campgrounds available for your stay, 7 of those campgrounds require the individual to reserve the spot ahead of time. One may also want to bring their horses as a means of getting around the area, and slips with horse capabilities are also limited.

The campgrounds offer the ability to park an RV, pitch a tent, have up to 6 horses at the site, and they also have group sites. The group sites allow for up to 30 people in one campsite, although they do not allow for RV’s to be parked in them. The horse sites allow for up to 6 people and 6 horses, but again do not allow for any trailers over 24 feet long.

Celebrate this super-natural holiday at Yosemite National Park; stop by at Halloween weekend for spooky crafts, creepy tales, and night walks galore! On Friday, October 30, meet at the Yosemite National Park Cemetery for a stroll through the gravestones. This event is family-friendly, and you should bring a flashlight with you; the family will listen to tales of the cemetery residents.

On October 31, a trail of glowing pumpkins escorts you and your family to the fun and excitement waiting in the Happy Isles Nature Center! Join the friendly Yosemite rangers as you learn about the nocturnal creatures and creepy-crawlies that Yosemite hosts! These include spiders, bats, scorpions, and owls. The fun continues as you are led outside for a short night walk and some treats and hot drinks. The family should bring extra layers of clothing and a flashlight for this occasion. Both of these events are free, and start at 6:30-9 PM.

Just a 30-minute scenic ride away from the National Park, Yosemite Pines Resort offers affordable shelter and lodging for guests. On October 30th, come join the Pines Resort for the Haunted Hayride, along with an excursion to the Ghouls’ Cemetery and the Butcher Shop of Horror. You will be served chili and corn muffins; Yosemite Pines Resort is a great place to stay when you aren’t at the National Park.
